Welcome to my blog! And it’s video release day!

Thanks for coming aboard and checking me out! This blog will feature every kind of entertainment news and ideas and weekly video updates for my radio listeners (Tuesday mornings at 7:40 on 98.5 FM CKWR in Waterloo, Ontario). Sometimes, I might infuriate and sometimes entertain but hopefully I’ll always leave you with some food for thought.
This week sees the release of one of the best movies of the year, The Wrestler. Mickey Rourke gives the best performance he has ever given (or probably ever will…Hollywood doesn’t like a loose cannon, right Mel?) as Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson, an aging, small-time wrestler who is trying to eke out a living in the world of the regional circuit, much to the chagrin of those around him, including his estranged daughter, played by Evan Rachel Wood in a small yet powerful perf and Marisa Tomei as the stripper with a heart of gold (and a kid at home) who can’t see past her job to the lonely man she’s dancing for. Darren Aronofsky show his considerable skills in yet another stylistic departure from his previous work. This guy’s exciting! But it’s Rourke who deserves the lion’s share of credit here for bringing to life a role full of sadness, hope, despair and bravado. This is one of the most fully realized characters in recent film. And I haven’t even talked about the gritty reality of the wrestling that Aronofsky reveals and all this in less than 90 minutes. Don’t let this one slip by!
If you have any ideas or comments, let me know and I’ll do my best to respond.
